AAMP Annual Convention is in the Books

Last week Jim, Kae, Doug, Lindsey, and Aliana attended the 79th annual convention for the American Association of Meat Processors. During the week, we were able to attend a tour of three suppliers that are located in Kansas City. We then participated in the educational sessions, walked the trade show floor, and socialized with several processors and suppliers from the industry.

One of the highlights of the week was competing in the American Cured Meat Championships. The ACMC's allow meat processors from across the country to bring the best of their products to the show to compete against fellow meat processors. We were honored to receive five awards during the competition.

Grand Champion Ham, Bone-in Lightweight

Reserve Grand Champion Small Diameter Hot Link Sausage

Champion Ham, Bone-in Heavyweight

Champion Smoked Turkey

Champion Small Diameter BBQ Sausage

During the week, Ali participated in the kids' competition by using meat, cheese, bread, and other items to make a creation. She was honored to receive first place in her age division. She received a trophy and medal, which she now prominently displays next to her bed. She informed me she is going to admire them every day and night from now on. This is the first trophy she has received, and she was absolutely ecstatic. We greatly appreciate the hard work that goes into making sure each member of the family has a wonderful time while at the convention.

This convention was bittersweet for Doug. This was his final year as serving on the board for the American Association of Meat Processors. Over the last eight years, Doug has held positions on the board ranging from operator director to treasurer to president. This last year, he served on the board as past president. His time on the board will be one that he will cherish for the rest of his life.

Every year, we look forward to attending the annual convention, and we were not disappointed. We will look back on this trip and remember the wonderful memories we made. We can't wait for next year's convention in Mobile, Alabama.
