International Award Winner!!!

International Award Winner! We like the sound of that.

Last month, the crew here at Thrushwood Farms worked on creating products to compete with meat processors across the country and the world. And they did an amazing job!! We were able to secure 18 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal, and 1 Bronze medal. Because of this, we will receive a Cup of Honour during an awards ceremony in May in conjunction with the IFFA in Frankfurt, Germany.

Lindsey and Doug will be traveling to Germany to receive the award. Additionally, Doug will be a guest speaker during the IFFA to discuss snack stick and jerky production. Be on the lookout on our social media sites (Facebook and Instagram) for posts about our time in Frankfurt, Germany.

Below you can find the official press release stating the products which received medals.

THRUSHWOOD FARMS WINS AT INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED MEAT COMPETITION

Thrushwood Farms Quality Meats, Inc., Galesburg, IL won international recognition for their meat products at the ‘DFV-AAMP Quality Competition for Sausage and Ham’, held Jan. 21-25, 2019 in Madison, Wisc. The results from this competition are held in conjunction with the IFFA, the world’s largest meat industry trade fair.

IFFA is the leading international trade fair for processing, packaging, and sales in the meat industry, and hosts an international meat competition every three years in Frankfurt, Germany. The German Butchers’ Association (Deutscher Fleischer-Verband) formed a partnership with the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) to host a “satellite contest” in the U.S. The results from the U.S. competition will be included with those from Germany and acknowledged as being a part of the international fair in May. The competition provides the opportunity for American meat processors to compete on an international level without having to even leave the country.

 Thrushwood Farms will be awarded:

 - 18 Gold Medals: Old Fashion Bologna, Semi-Boneless Ham, Boneless Ham, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Sweet Teriyaki Snack Stick, Spicy Snack Stick, Original Snack Stick, Ground and Formed Spicy Strip, Ground and Formed Original Strip, Smoked Turkey, Boneless Turkey Breast, Bone-In Turkey Breast, Summer Sausage with Cheese, Summer Sausage, Spicy Summer Sausage, Garlic Summer Sausage, Dried Beef, Canadian Bacon

- 1 Silver Medals: Smoked Chicken

- 1 Bronze Medals: Bone-In Ham

To make the event identical to the competition in Frankfurt, organizers sent judges from Germany to conduct the competition in Madison. All entries were graded on appearance, consistency, smell, and taste. The competition received more than 460 entries from 42 companies across the United States.

AAMP Executive Director Chris Young said, “With an award from the German Butchers’ Association, our members demonstrate the international competitiveness and quality of their products. On behalf of AAMP and our members, we congratulate Thrushwood Farms for their outstanding achievements.”

Thrushwood Farms has been invited by the German Butchers’ Association to attend a ceremony at the IFFA in Frankfurt on May 7, 2019, where they will be awarded their certificates and medals.
